On Saturday, November 12th, Big Brothers Big Sisters partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, Veterans Council of Indian River County, Operation Gratitude, and Chick-Fil-A to pack care packages for our military. Big Brothers Big Sisters families worked with Boys & Girls Club teens to pack over 50 care packages. We are thankful for everyone who came together and worked for our armed forces. Thankful was a theme for the event; as veterans, teens, and families openly discussed things for which they are thankful. Big Brothers Big Sisters parent, Gloria D., states, “”This was a wonderful opportunity and event for my younger children to learn about what Veterans Day is really about. The sacrifices they have done and what they continue to do for our country. My children were so excited to put packages together for the soldiers and wanted to continue to make more packages. Thank you to the Veterans who spoke with the children and Big Brothers Big Sisters for providing this opportunity for my children to meet and learn about Veterans Day.” Families went home with a book, free calling cards, and Chick-Fil-A gift certificates. Great things can be accomplished when community partners come together!
